Welcome to the Blog

Wedding planning can become very stressful especially when you run into multiple options of things like all the beautiful color schemes you could go with or what type of food you want to serve. You start to get a bit overwhelmed and think there are too many options! Then you run into this question… should we book a live band or should we book a DJ? Which is better? Is one better than the other? How much is the cost difference? Well, we are here to hopefully help this decision become a bit easier to decide on!

Why Choose a DJ?

DJs typically have a wider variety of music options, which means they can seamlessly switch between genres, eras, and moods. A DJ can go from Taylor Swift to Drake to Dolly Parton without missing a beat. DJs can keep the music flowing without breaks, ensuring there’s never an awkward lull on the dance floor. Many also serve as emcees, helping guide the evening with announcements and transitions between key moments like the first dance, cake cutting, and bouquet toss.

Even though a DJ is usually a more budget friendly option compared to a band, cutting corners on your DJ also isn’t recommended! Trust us when we say a good DJ will keep the party going! If you’re looking for variety, consistency, and a packed dance floor, a DJ might be the perfect fit.

Why Choose a Band?

There’s something so fun about live music. A band brings energy, personality, and a different style that recorded songs simply can’t replicate. It creates a more intimate experience, especially during key moments like your ceremony or first dance.

It also feels like you’re watching a performance at your reception. Watching musicians perform can be just as entertaining as dancing, giving guests another way to engage with the celebration.

However, bands are typically more expensive and may have a more limited song list. While many bands can learn a few special requests, they can’t offer all the different songs and amount of songs a DJ offers. They’ll also need breaks, which can affect the flow of the evening unless coordinated carefully.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with either choice of a band or a DJ. It all boils down to your budget and the experience you are looking for!
